Treviglas recently held its annual dance showcase, Spectrum, with the theme “Create-Perform-Inspire” and inspire it did! It was a fantastic two night event that showcased the talents of students in Years Seven to Thirteen, including solo performances in the styles of jazz, Irish and contemporary dance along with many ensemble pieces that truly highlighted the skills of the performers involved. Along with the extra-curricular performances, A-Level and GCSE dancers performed their exam work in preparation for moderation. It was lovely to see all of their hard work finally come together in some amazing performances.
Treviglas students shared the stage with local dance companies, including Trio Dance and Pamela Darlington School of Dance. Both companies shared their unique, creative work that inspired many of our dancers. Several primary school students also performed. They danced to a song from the film ‘Trolls’ which had the audience bouncing up and down in their seats.
Of course a show like this is nothing without its comperes and audiences were not disappointed. A huge thank-you goes to Ryan Bonner and Alex Prichard, two year twelve students who hosted the event with charm, confidence and humour (most of the time undeliberate).
Miss Lucy Fewkes, dance teacher at Treviglas, commented, ‘I am so proud of the students! I get so excited when they go on stage, and each year they manage to impress me more and more. It is a pleasure to teach such talented and committed students.’
Melanie Whitehead Smith, a Year 13 student who has almost completed her A-level dance at the college, said, “Spectrum is always a highlight of the year, and this year, our last, has been memorable. I have enjoyed every minute! It has been wonderful to see such talent in the younger students.”
