Expressive and Performing Arts
"The most valuable asset a nation has is the creativity of its children," Alan Plater.
Welcome to the Expressive & Performing Arts section of the site. This is an exhilarating time to be teaching the arts in college, Government understands the importance of creativity in education and this is demonstrated in a range of recent policies and initiatives.
"Imagining what it is like to be someone other than yourself is at the core of our humanity. It is the essence of compassion, and it is the beginning of morality," Ian McEwan.
Art, Drama, Music and Photography represent practical activity and intellectual discipline. We are involved in imagination and feelings and how these emotions help us to make sense of the world. Through engagement in the arts, students apply their imaginations and draw upon personal experiences, leading to their increasing knowledge and understanding of how their work within the arts enables them to effectively shape, express and share their ideas, feelings and responses in a meaningful way.
