Fistral House

FISTRAL HOUSE is lead by Mr Clifford and has been since the inception of the House system in 2005. Green is Fistral's House colour and students wear a green and black tie which identifies them as a Fistral member. The majority of our forms register in the Maths and Science area of the college where students will find Mr Clifford’s office and the house notice board. There are 11 Form tutors in Fistral House and these Tutors should be the first point of call for parents who wish to enquire about their son/daughter

Fistral students voted to adopt a new charity at the end of the last academic year. Our new House charity is Aid4orphans. This is a Newquay based charity Peter and Vanessa Bragg have set up to supply financial assistance and educational sponsorship for the children of The Likoni Aids Orphanage in Kenya.

The Orphanage is run by Reverend Ernest Ombeva and his wife Mary in conjunction with Timbwani Baptist Church, located south of Mombasa in the sprawling Likoni slum area and currently provides a home for 47 children who have lost both parents to Aids.

Fistral students have already sent letters to the children of the orphanage introducing themselves and await the replies. We hope to make a permanent and successful link with the orphanage and the associated school.  Back in July Fistral students also elected new House Captains, Sport Captains, Prefects and Year Captains.

The new student leaders of Fistral House have already started their roles by participating in Student College Council meetings.  This year the meetings will take place on Wednesdays between 3 and 4 p.m. to ensure that students can attend without missing lessons.  Last academic year Fistral Tutors mentored Year 11 students and I am pleased to announce that Y11 students were very successful in their KS4 examinations, achieving superb results. 98% of students achieved 5 GCSE’s between A* - C and over 68% of students obtained 5 GCSE’s between A* - C including English and Maths. Mentoring of KS4 students will continue this year enabling progress and helping them to reach their true potential.
