Indoor Primary Rowing Festival

On the 8th November 2010 Newquay family rowing festival took place at Treviglas College, 12 teams were entered from 8 schools. St. Columb Major, St. Columb Minor, Perranporth, Newquay Junior, Trevisker, Cubert, Goonhavenand Bishops.
The festival gave the opportunity for the children to compete for the first time against other schools. Treviglas College has set up a hub for Indoor rowing in the Newquay area with 2 successful bids from awards for all which has provided 8 rowers for St. Columb Major school and 8 for Treviglas College, with another bid for 8 rowers at the moment in for Trevisker School. From this funding Rowing coach Tommy Gee has visited many of the Newquay primary schools giving over two thousand children the opportunity to use a rower which specialist coaching. The Treviglas rowing hub with its outreach into the community is now the largest indoor rowing club in the south west of England.
The rowing festival this year was for year 5 and 6 students boys and girls from all the family of local primary schools.

1st Kai Shaw Newquay Junior 435m
2nd Conner McGrath 429m
Team competition is decided from the positions that the individuals in boys and girls come and points given out accordingly to the teams.
