Primary Tennis Festival

Primary schools enjoying tennis help form our Sports Leaders

Treviglas College in partnership with The Heron Tennis centre ran this summer’s year 3 and 4 Tennis festival.

Primary schools from across the town converged on the Heron Tennis centre for a Tennis festival. The students were from year 3 and 4 and were picked for their enthusiasm for tennis. The first part of the festival was practicing shots forehands, backhands, volley and serve. These were then put into a scoring game with the balls being hit thick and fast. The next part was the matches were all the teams were supposed to play matches or doubles. Unfortunately after the second round this had to be stopped due to the very heavy downpour which made the courts slippery.

Although the weather was damp the spirits were high with Summercourt winning the festival and St. Columb Minor second.

Girls and boys from the Treviglas sports leaders group who are in years 7 -10 were involved with the festival, the leaders scored, fed balls and helped with the organisation of the skills.
