ICT Academy
ICT Academy in conjuction with University of Plymouth Colleges & Cisco Networking Academy
Summary
Students study Cisco IT Essentials 1 & 2 and Cisco Discovery 1 & 2; these courses are certified by the Cisco Networking Academy and are recognized internationally. Students also study two units in web technologies and careers in computing. Students successfully completing all modules can gain up to 120 CATS points which can provide entry to University of Plymouth undergraduate Computing courses.
Examination requirements
Cisco courses are assessed by multiple choice examination, practical skills exam and case studies.
Coursework requirements
Web technologies and careers in computing are assessed on a portfolio of digital work.
Entry requirements
As with any level 3 course we would expect students to have five GCSE passes at grade C or above or equivalent qualifications.
Subject combinations
Students who are enrolled on the Technicians' Academy course are automatically enrolled in the ICT Academy, students can also combine the ICT Academy course with other A level subjects. Prospective students should be aware that the ICT Academy is a two year course and that although certification can be gained for the individual Cisco courses CATS points are only awarded for the successful completion of the whole course.
