Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to update you on the work which is being done to support Governors and staff to deliver the improvements we need to make to ensure that your children receive the highest possible standard of education at Treviglas Community College.

An Interim Executive Board (IEB) has now been set up to replace the existing Governing Body. The purpose of the new Board, which is supported by the Department for Education and the Council, is to have oversight of and drive forward the school’s improvement. The IEB consists of a small group of very experienced people who have worked in and with a wide range of schools and their communities. The members of the Board are:

  • Mrs Liz Brand – Associate Consultant, School Effectiveness Cornwall
  • Dr Pat McGovern – Education Consultant at LSSW
  • Mrs Jennie Walker – CEO Ace Academy Trust

The IEB will begin work immediately as part of the statutory response of the Local Authority and will work closely with Council officers, the Regional Schools Commissioner, and with the school and parents and carers so we can continue to make good progress to ensure that all our students receive the best possible education.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the tremendous amount of time Theresa Frost and the Governing Body gave to Treviglas Community College. I particularly value their contribution to the wellbeing and safety of the students in our school.

We will be arranging a meeting for the IEB to meet with parents in the near future and further information will be issued when details of this have been confirmed.

Yours faithfully

Michelle Dunleavy BEng(hons), MEd
Headteacher
