Primary Rowing Festival

Treviglas Community College Indoor Primary Rowing Festival - Wednesday 14th October.

The second Newquay family rowing festival took place at Treviglas. 10 teams of Year 5 and Year 6 students were entered from 7 schools. St. Columb Major, St. Columb Minor, Perranporth, Newquay Junior, Trevisker, Cubert and Bishops.

The festival gave the students the opportunity to compete for the first time against other schools. Treviglas Community College has set up a hub for indoor rowing in the Newquay area with 2 successful bids from awards which has provided 8 rowers for St. Columb Major school and 8 for Treviglas. From this funding Tommy Gee has visited many of the Newquay Primary Schools giving over a thousand children the opportunity to use a rower with specialist coaching.

The Treviglas rowing hub with its outreach into the community is now the largest indoor rowing club in the south west of England. The individual results were.

The Treviglas leaders helped with the festival giving support to the rowers some of whom are in the Treviglas Indoor Rowing team who are training hard for the Cornwall Championships.
