Newquay primary schools Year 3 /4 football festival

Wednesday 28th March 2018

Treviglas Community College recently ran the Newquay primary schools mixed year 3 /4 football festival. There was plenty of action as teams battled it out for the top prize.

Sean Wells, School Sports Coordinator for Treviglas, said, ‘This year we saw great skill levels and teamwork. The weather did not put a dampener on the festival this time, as we moved into the Sports Dome. The afternoon was a great success, with the players learning new skills. Many of the players have never played in a football match before; the festival gave them a new opportunity to compete at this level.’

Part of the Year 3 & 4 festival was led by Hannah, a Year 11 leader, and a member of the Football Futures Leadership Academy. She said, ‘The skills shown were really good: the passing and movement at speed was great to watch.’

The results from the festival were:

First place: Newquay Junior Academy
Second Place: St. Columb Major ACE Academy

Treviglas’ local partners in developing football, Newquay FC, have been running coaching sessions at local primary schools for this age group aided by Treviglas football leaders over the past year. This initiative is to get more girls and boys interested in having a go at football in their school.

If you’re interested in girls’ football, Newquay Ladies train at Treviglas Sports Dome, 5-6pm on Tuesday nights.
