What will they learn?
In Design and technology pupils combine practical and technological skills with creative thinking to design and make products and systems that meet human needs. They learn to use current technologies and consider the impact of future technological developments. They learn to think creatively and intervene to improve the quality of life, solving problems as individuals and members of a team.
How will they learn it?
Design and technology is about designing, making and responding to the world around you. During KS3 students make a range of items including, pewter jewellery with a box, light houses with smart materials, acrylic CAD CAM fans, candlestick holders, clocks, cushions, fabric phone holder, and a wide range of food items.
Where will it take them?
Many of our students progress into KS4 and KS5 opting for Product Design or Food and Nutrition and continue following pathways in the creative industries including architecture, fashion design, film and TV , illustration, graphic design and working with in the food industry.
