This event will be held in the Junior Hall of Newquay Tretherras, starting at 7.00pm on the evening of Thursday 7th June. Parking available in both the senior and junior car parks.
Terry Waite has had a long experience of negotiating for the release of hostages. He has worked in many conflict zones throughout the world. Whilst working for the release of captives, he was himself captured and held hostage for nearly five years. For four of those years, he was kept in strict solitary confinement.
During this evening, Mr Waite will discuss how it was that he managed to keep physically, mentally and spiritually healthy by using his mind and by the creative use of language.
Over the course of the talk, Mr Waite will make reference to three of his books: “Taken On Trust”, which was a book that was written in his head during his captivity; “Out of the Silence”, an illustrated collection of narrative and poetry; and his latest book, “Solitude”. Copies of the above books will be available on the evening priced at £10 each, or pre-ordered with event tickets.
Profits will go to support the work of Mr Waite with his chosen charities that assist hostages, the homeless e.g. Emmaus UK, and young people overseas. Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for children, and can be purchased at the school reception. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on Thursday evening.
