Treviglas hosted a careers fair on Wednesday the 29th of November, inviting local employers in to the college to meet students and share vital information about work in their industries.
The day was primarily aimed at Year 9 students so that they could make informed choices regarding their option subjects this academic year. The employers supported this process through excellent information and guidance with respect to their associated vocational pathways. The whole year group had a chance to ask questions of the employers. An impressive variety of industrial sectors were represented on the day, including CITB – Apprenticeships in Construction, Volunteer Cornwall, Software Cornwall, Devon & Cornwall Police and Exeter University.
The employers were very complimentarily of our students and commented on their maturity and interest at the end of the day. In addition to the Year 9s, a selection of Year 11s who had an interest in pursuing apprenticeships and employment in specific trades such as construction, also attended the day.
Mr. Thomas Wilson, assistant head at the college, commented, “Overall the day was a resounding success and provided the students with invaluable guidance in relation to their personal and career development.”
