Students in Years 5 and 6 from the Newquay area attended a teambuilding afternoon at Treviglas last week. The students chose from a range of activities, including sports at the Treviglas Sports Hub.
Many students took part in an old-school style sports day, with fun activities involving hoops, sacks and races with giant wooden spoons and rugby balls in a twist on the traditional egg and spoon race. Kurling and indoor archery were also popular options. Dodgeball was a favourite for many, as ever. One student, who is in Year 6 at The Bishops’ C of E Learning Academy, liked the dodgeball best, commenting on the “very happy atmosphere.”
Students also had the opportunity to build their own catapaults from sticks, and practice their firing skills using balls and bean bags. Other teambuilding activities included trust building tasks involving string, water and eggs. Students worked with a partner to gradually stand further apart and throw an egg between them. A calmer indoor activity was the lego challenge, when students worked in teams to create their own designs and then explain their thinking to the rest of the group.
A student, from Year 5 at Indian Queens Primary School, said they liked ‘everything’ best! – dodgeball, archery, obstacle challenge and throwing eggs!
Parents and carers of children in Year 6 are reminded to apply for a secondary school place for their child by the deadline of 31st October. For a personal tour of the college or any further information please contact Mrs. Emma Gilbert on 01637 872076 or by email: email@example.com
