This term some Year 9 Digital Leaders have been working on a joint project with Year 5 and 6 students from St Columb Major ACE Academy. The primary children created a short film about their school, supported by visiting Treviglas, to work with the Digital Leaders alongside Ms Johnson-Sterling, Curriculum Leader for IT and Computing.
The Treviglas students taught the Future Leaders how to edit their footage, and how to use software including Garageband to compose the music for the film. The team worked collaboratively to create and edit the piece of digital media, with the Digital Leaders completing the editing at Treviglas.
The culmination of the project was a whole-school assembly at St Columb Major ACE Academy, where the primary and secondary students presented their project to students and staff, explaining the concept from start to finish and evaluating their final outcome.
Digital Leader, Arianne, said, “The primary children have developed key skills to help them with their future; the project gave me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills.”
Karen Wakefield, teacher at St Columb Major ACE Academy and project co-ordinator, concluded, “The Digital Leaders were wonderful role models for the younger pupils and were an absolute pleasure to work with – a real credit to Treviglas.”
