To Parent(s) / Carer(s) of
Student(s) at Treviglas Community College
Dear Parent(s) / Carer(s)
Following confirmation from the Department for Education, I am delighted to inform you that Treviglas Community College will become an Academy [Treviglas Academy] sponsored by The Roseland Multi-Academy Trust.
The Roseland Multi-Academy Trust currently consists of one secondary school [The Roseland Academy] and two primary schools [Gerrans School and Tregony Community Primary School]. We have a shared vision that “Everyone Succeeds”.
Each Academy in the Trust is led and run by a Headteacher and each school in the Trust has maintained its own identity but enjoys close working relationships and collaboration between all schools. The Trust provides a balance of focused support and challenge, a breadth of opportunities, and it enables us to share best practice and ensure we benefit from the wealth of expertise available in our schools.
Our Trust is wholly committed to young people, ensuring that they have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. We are all determined to develop a Trust that continues to make a difference to all students across all Key Stages. Our Trust is successfully raising academic standards and is committed to ensuring that all children and young people in our Academies benefit from the high-quality education being delivered across the Trust. We want to share our good practice to ensure Treviglas Community College raises its academic standards and to once again become an Outstanding provider.
In September 2017 The Roseland Academy was awarded Outstanding by Ofsted. In this summer’s exams, I am happy to report that The Roseland Academy is once again one of the highest performing schools in the region and the country. The school has topped the tables regionally for the last three years and is one of only 14% of schools in the country who achieved ‘well-above average’. The successes from The Roseland Academy will be shared with Treviglas Community College to increase the scope for sharing learning, subject specialisms, school improvement expertise and continuous professional development.
For The Roseland Multi-Academy Trust to expand, it needs to carry out robust due diligence on any new school that joins. The Trust needs to be confident in the strengths and areas for development of Treviglas Community College, and have an awareness of the nature of support that the Trust can provide.
The areas below will be built into our Multi Academy Trust Improvement Plan and will be developed as the main foci going forward to support Treviglas Community College:
- Raising the standards of teaching and learning;
- Improving conditions for learning;
- Extending the Trust’s impact on raising the standards of education for more young people and ensuring better outcomes;
- Ensuring all students attend school regularly;
- Providing more opportunities for staff development, deployment and promotion within the Trust;
- Increasing economies of scale in the running of central services and providing greater purchasing power;
- Opening up new opportunities to build new curriculum and transition models;
- Providing a bigger platform for supporting innovation.
Our Board of Trustees has a wealth of experience and our Trustees take an active role by participating in regular Multi-Academy Trust Improvement Days. They undergo regular training sessions to ensure they remain knowledgeable and up to date with the ever-changing educational landscape and are supportive of the leaders in our schools.
The next steps are to facilitate the conversion to an Academy and member of the Trust and Treviglas Community College will keep you informed of developments in this regard. Once more information is available I will communicate with you again.
With kind regards.
Mr Chris Challis
