Treviglas’ Year 7 students face challenges in adventure learning experience

Monday 16th October 2017

All new Year 7 students joined staff for an exciting two days of adventure learning recently. They spent the day at Tolcarne beach, where they enjoyed a surfing lesson and a bodyboarding lesson. Beach activities included rounders, sand sculpture and beach volleyball. The students relished the opportunity for some teambuilding and making new friends outside the classroom.

Back at college, the evening’s activities included climbing at the Treviglas Sports Hub, making paracord bracelets, disco dodgeball and disco badminton, kurling and archery. The evening ended with a film accompanied by hot chocolate and cake.

Students spent the night camping on the college fields, and for some this was their first night spent under canvas. The Treviglas Duke of Edinburgh Young Leaders supported staff at the event and were superb role models for the younger students.

The following day was spent enjoying further teambuilding activities, including laser tag, total wipeout, bouncy castle, bungee cord inflatables and sumo wrestling. The college dog, Ruan, put in an appearance, to the delight of the students. Year 7 student, Maisy, said, “That was the best camp I have ever been on.”

Another student, Jess, agreed, adding, “I had an amazing time and I loved the laser tag and total wipeout.”

For Sam, the highlights of the experience were the surfing lesson at Tolcarne beach and the disco dodgeball.
