Treviglas’ partners in developing football, Newquay FC, have been running coaching sessions at local primary schools for this age group with Treviglas football leaders over the past year, and this festival was a celebration of all that had been achieved. The project and festival aim to get more girls and boys interested in having a go at football in local clubs.
Sean Wells, School Sports Coordinator for Treviglas, said, ‘This year we saw great skill levels and teamwork; the players do not play in school teams but we mix all the players up with a coach from one of the local primary schools. Part of the festival was led by Zeke, a Year 9 leader and a member of the Football Futures Leadership Academy. He said, ‘The skills shown were really good the passing and movement at speed was great to watch.’
The results from the festival were:
The final play off between Green team and Blue team was won by Green, which was made up of players from across the Newquay schools involved in the sports partnership.
Mrs Harradine, coach of the Green team, said, ‘It was great to see all the players from different schools working together. My son is a sports leader at Treviglas and he will be amazed I was the winning coach!’
