Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we approach the end of the term, I want to once again thank you for your support throughout the year. Your involvement has been instrumental in the progress we’ve achieved, and I am excited about the further improvements we can achieve for the future.
With the festive season upon us, I would like to remind you of the exciting events we have scheduled at school:
Thursday, 12th December:
-
Christmas Lunch: Available only to students who have pre-booked with their form tutors. Please note, no other food options will be available in the canteen on this day.
-
Christmas Jumper Day: Encourage your children to wear their most festive (best or worse!) jumper. The rest of their uniform should maintain our usual high standards.
Friday, 13th December:
-
Christmas Disco: For Year 7 and 8 students.
Monday, 16th December:
-
Year 7 Pantomime Trip: A visit to Hall for Cornwall to enjoy "Jack and the Beanstalk."
Wednesday, 18th December:
-
St Columb Minor School Christmas Concert: This will take place in our main hall and selected students will have the opportunity to watch the dress rehearsal.
Thursday, 19th December:
-
Evening Performance: Featuring the Treviglas Rock Mime and Winter Festival.
Friday, 20th December:
-
Last Day of Term: Includes the Rock Mime for all students.
We are proud to share that our attendance rates continue to place us among the top schools in the county. This achievement is a collective effort led by Mr. Wilson, and strongly supported by you at home. Ensuring your children’s well-being and consistent attendance is our utmost priority.
Looking ahead, we are moving into the next phase of our whole-school refurbishment project. Although the current phase focuses on mechanical and electrical structures, which may not be immediately visible, rest assured we are committed to enhancing our classroom environments to meet the high standards our students deserve.
Our Year 11 students are diligently preparing for their upcoming trial exams in the new year. A separate letter will be sent to Year 11 parents detailing how you can support your children over the holidays in each subject area.
For Year 10, it’s crucial to have a work experience plan or, ideally, a secured placement by now. While it may seem far off, early planning ensures access to preferred placements, as these are highly sought after by students across the region.
Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership. Wishing you a joyful festive season and a restful break.
Kind regards,
