This BTEC Tech Award is a practical introduction to life and work in Engineering, Students at Treviglas can develop their understanding of the different sectors and see whether it’s an industry they’d like to be in.
The course is made up of three components: all are task based rather than traditional exam style, two are internally assessed and one externally at the end of Year 11. Example assignments include; Learning about different sectors and how the products they make interrelate, producing design proposals for engineered products, investigating by disassembling/assembling, and being able reproduce a component from it. This option would suit students who are interested in the way things are made in the world around them, have suitable design skills, are interested in making using traditional skills and computers to design and manufacture.
Coursework is worth 60% of the overall course grade.
