Treviglas Academy Wins Prestigious National Award for Outstanding Drama Department
Treviglas Academy has been named Winner of the Outstanding Drama Department Award at the Music & Drama Education Awards 2025, a prestigious UK-wide event celebrating excellence in performing arts education.
This highly competitive award recognises drama departments that go above and beyond to provide exceptional drama education, ensuring students have access to enriching theatre opportunities both within and beyond the classroom. Judges considered evidence of outstanding provision and a commitment to making drama inclusive and accessible, despite financial and time constraints.
Sam Colborne, who leads the Creative Arts Programme at Treviglas Academy, commented:
"We are absolutely delighted to receive this recognition. Our Creative Arts team works tirelessly to inspire our students and provide them with high-quality drama experiences, both in school and through our valued partnerships."
The success of Treviglas Academy’s drama department has been strengthened by its collaborations with leading organisations, including The Royal Shakespeare Company, Hall for Cornwall, Prodigal UPG, and WildWorks Theatre, all of whom have played an integral role in providing students with professional experiences and industry insight.
The latest performances highlight the success of the creative arts at Treviglas Academy, with I Am a Stranger bringing together over 100 students and local community members in a vibrant showcase of music, dance, spoken word, and drama on Lusty Glaze Beach. Additionally, the whole-school performance of Neverland, a contemporary take on the classic Peter Pan story, further demonstrated the school's creative excellence.
Headteacher of Treviglas Academy, Mr James Rogers, added:
"We are incredibly proud to receive this award. It is a testament to the hard work, passion, and creativity of both staff and students at Treviglas Academy. Thank you, everyone for your support."
